Frequently Asked Questions
Questions people ask before they start.
Say It Last helps you organize practical guidance, choose a Trusted Contact, and control when that information can be released. Start with the question you have now — you do not need to learn everything at once.
The simplest answer: clarity.
Say It Last is built for the moment when people might otherwise say, “I wish I would have known.” The app helps you prepare those details before they are needed.
What is Say It Last?
Say It Last is a subscription mobile app that helps you organize important guidance for the people you trust. It can include contacts, instructions, pet care, account notes, final wishes, and personal messages.
Who is it for?
It is for anyone who wants the people they love to have a clearer place to start if they can no longer speak for themselves.
What is a Trusted Contact?
A Trusted Contact is the person you choose to receive your guidance if your Say It Last trigger is activated. Choose someone responsible, reachable, and able to take practical next steps.
What is the Toggle?
The Toggle helps control the check-in and timing process that can lead to release of your prepared information to your Trusted Contact.
The big three questions
What do I store?
Store the details your people may need: who to call, where documents are located, what to do about pets, what bills or accounts may need attention, and what wishes you want clearly understood.
When is it released?
Your guidance is not released just because it exists. The Toggle and timing process control when your Trusted Contact may be able to unlock the report.
What do they receive?
Your Trusted Contact receives the guidance you prepared in an organized report. The goal is to reduce confusion and give them a clear place to start.
Getting Started
Where should I start?
Start with the basics: choose your Trusted Contact, set up the information you want to leave, and work through the pieces that matter most first.
You can also use our Video Guides and Trusted Contact Guide.
Do I need to finish everything at once?
No. Start with the basics. Add your Trusted Contact, set your Toggle, and record the first details that matter most. You can build and improve your Vault over time.
Is Say It Last a will or legal document?
No. Say It Last is not a will, trust, power of attorney, advance directive, or legal document. It does not replace legal planning or estate documents.
It is a support tool for organizing practical guidance, personal wishes, and information your Trusted Contact may need.
Is Say It Last for emergencies?
No. Say It Last is not an emergency service and does not replace calling 911, medical providers, local authorities, or other urgent help.
Trusted Contact & Report
What will my Trusted Contact actually receive?
Your Trusted Contact receives the guidance you prepared through the Say It Last process in an organized report designed to give them a clear place to start.
See the recipient experience on What Your Trusted Contact Receives.
Can I preview what my Trusted Contact will see?
Yes. Use the Preview option in Say It Last to review the information prepared for your Trusted Contact before it is released.
Should my Trusted Contact know I chose them?
Yes. It is usually wise to tell the person you chose, so they understand they may receive instructions later and know the message is legitimate.
Can my Trusted Contact see my information before release?
Your Trusted Contact does not receive the report simply because you chose them. Release is controlled through the Say It Last process and the timing you set.
Can I change my Trusted Contact later?
Yes. Keep your Trusted Contact information current as life changes. Follow any restrictions or confirmations shown in the app if a release process is already active.
Vault, Toggle & Your Information
What can I put in my Vault?
You can organize the information and instructions you would want your trusted person to have if you could not explain it yourself.
That may include contacts, practical instructions, pet care, account notes, final wishes, personal messages, and where important documents can be found.
Can I include final wishes?
Yes. You can record wishes such as burial, cremation, memorial preferences, obituary notes, personal messages, where you would want ashes placed, or who you would want to make certain decisions.
Can I include pet care instructions?
Yes. Pet care is one of those details people may not know during a stressful time. You can include veterinarian contact information, feeding routines, medications, walking schedules, and who should care for the pet.
What happens if I am safe?
If you are safe and continue confirming as expected, your information stays private and your Trusted Contact does not receive the report.
What happens if check-ins are missed?
Say It Last follows the timing you selected. The reminder process gives you time to confirm you are safe before the trigger process continues.
What happens if the trigger activates?
If the trigger is activated, your Trusted Contact can securely access the guidance you prepared through the release process.
Can I update my information later?
Yes. Say It Last works best when your information stays current. Update your notes, contacts, pet care instructions, Trusted Contact details, and wishes as life changes.
